Banstead Town v Roundshaw Colts B

The first half started fast from both teams, who wanted the first goal. Bandstead led the attack wining the first corner within 5 minutes. Roundshaw hit on with a counter-attack from their corner, taking the ball up the pitch and onto Nelsons’ head down to John Michael to shoot and forced the goalkeeper pull off a good save.

From the goal kick Bandstead were on the attack again and with good defending Roundshaw kept the score level. Both teams had a few shots at goal which were wide. The dead lock was broken when Daryl’s  shot fell to Nelson, who had taken up a position on the left. The ball was fired across the goal and Curtis was there to smash the ball home with a right foot volley. 0 – 1 to Roundshaw. Just before half time, Nelson passed another good ball through to Tinashie whose shot made the goal keeper pull off a good save.

Second half started lively with chances from both sides. Bandstead’s through ball came to nothing as Harvey collected the ball calmly. Roundshaw started to put them under pressure, looking for the 2nd goal. Tinashie showed off some skill by turning their player and having a hard shot at goal, only to be saved by the keeper.

It was then Bandstead’s turn to pressure Roundshaw, stringing some good passes together and threatening Roundshaw’s goal. The pressure started to show as Roundshaw played the ball back and the keeper picked it up, which led to Bandstead being awarded a free kick on the edge of the box. Luckily for Roundshaw the ball was kicked over the crossbar. Bandstead still piled on the pressure making Harvey pull off 2 more excellent saves. The match finished 1 nil to Roundshaw although Bandstead gave them a run for their money.

The supporters were entertained throughout the match.

Good show old chaps.

Cheam Village Warriors v Roundshaw Colts B

The Tornadoes started with spirit and fight.

We are all over Cheam, wining the first corner of the match within the first few minutes. Carl took an excellent free kick only to be cleared and Nelson had a shot saved. After the 3rd corner, there was a goal mouth scramble with Roundshaw trying their hardest to get the first goal.

By the 25th minute Carl played a brilliant through ball down the wing to Nelson, who ran straight for goal. 1 nil to Roundshaw. We had another chance for Steven to score,  unlucky their goalie pulled off a good save. Cheam’s chance to score with the ball being passed through the middle and ref called for a penalty as (5) hand ball. 1 – 1. With heads held high, Roundshaw kept coming, Daryl passed a lovely ball to Nelson who again hit the target. 2 – 1 We were entertained throughout the first half with end to end action.

2nd half.

We started as we finished the first half. Roundshaw eager to get another, John Michael catch off side a few times, but they fought hard to win every ball. Cheam had a exciting time in our goal mouth, scrambling to shoot only to be cleared by Arron. Roundshaw kept the pressure on with another shot saved by their keeper.

The ball was played to our half and they caught us out equalising. 2 – 2.Our heads were high and not before long, John Michael played through to Steven who found the net. 3 – 2 Cheam were the ones now fighting, putting pressure on our defence and Harvey saving an excellent shot. Roundshaw were however up for it and wanted more goals. Another good ball down the wing to Steven and again the net was found. 4 – 2 Roundshaw.

Excellent game and played in a spirit from both teams.
