Roundshaw Colt’s (B team) v
South Park Juniors - U9’s
It was the long awaited return match and the Hurricanes
were ready to play top of the league South Park Juniors.
The pressure was on, and the Hurricanes defence was busy
from the start, both teams had near misses, then with a
great pass from JD, Scott’s header just went over the post,
this was just the type of pressure the Hurricanes wanted to
put on South Park Juniors and work their defence.
Both team were playing well, and the No9 from SPJ was
putting on the pressure along with their No2 who had a great
try at goal but RS’s goalie Nicky made sure they did not go
1 – 0 down.
Injury stopped play, but only for a few minutes, gave
everyone the chance to catch their breath, both teams were
soon playing again and then with a great pass from Alex to
Louis and Louis passing on to front man Scott there was no
stopping the Hurricanes as they went 1-0 up. Could have even
been 2-0 up within minutes but Scott just missed goal.
SPJ put the pressure back on, but great team work in defence
saved RSC going 1-1. With Half time approaching both teams
were playing tight, but the Hurricanes made it 2-0 before
both teams got a breather at half time.
Second half saw SPJ really putting the pressure on RSC and
goalie Nicky was soon busy saving the first try at goal. SPJ
were pulling out all the stops but RSC were not going to
lose their lead on the match, even a challenge on Scott and
a change of player for SPJ did not deter Scott from claiming
his 3rd goal from JD’s great free kick.
The pressure was really on now, and SPJ led the attack and
were piling the pressure on the Hurricanes defence, a missed
kick then led the ball to deflect off a RSC player which
gave SPJ’s their first goal. SPJ’s did not let up and were
keeping the defence busy, even with 2 corners, SPJ could not
break the Hurricanes defence down, and then with a great
pass from Alex at the back, down to Scott, he just made easy
work of goal number 4.
Confidence grew for the Hurricanes and all players were keen
to show their football skills on the pitch, this made for a
great game, all the crowd, home and away were willing their
teams on.
A corner taken by …..led to Scott scoring his 5th
goal, what an exciting match, the hurricanes then had two
change of players, with Scott and Oliver off, SPJ would be
forgiven, to think they might get back into the game, but
Josh & Zac kept up the good team work, and at the final
whistle by that gorgeous ref RSC could not have been happier
with their 5 - 1 win.
