Match report 26 October 2009
THE
RESERVES CLIMBING UP THE TABLE!!
After emphatically whipping New Malden town last week
the reserves were looking for a comfortable win against Putney lions. The whole team were confident from the
previous 2 weeks victories. the game started with the
sun beaming on a well tended pitch. It didn’t take long to get into
our stride with a few sloppy passes here and there but
with us comfortably in control creating various chances
but just not finishing. It started to look like
Putney’s lack lustre performance was starting to rub of
on us.
Finally the first goal then came after a free kick in
our own half was lofted in by Scott, bounced over the on
rushing
keepers head and through his hands and Scott’s Bro was
their to steal the glory. After the first goal we
started to get in our stride and create chances. The second goal came thanks to macca after a nice one
two with Paul Macca calmly kept his head to beat two defenders
and then the keeper.
Half time- Putney lions 0-2 Roundshaw reserves
After some home truths regarding our poor performance
from Dave, we stepped out for the second half, it didn’t
start too lively as Putney seemed to of finally got their
act together and came on strong with some great
defending by our back four & Wayne. We
defended like Trojans however after 10 minutes Putney
reverted back to their norm whilst we got our heads down to complete
the job we started.
Soon after the interval the third came after a
great run from Juan he kept his composure to slot past the
keeper for 3-0 and all three points, Putney lions
weren't going down without a fight and they saw there
best effort of the game fantastically saved by Wayne aka
Spiderman who was determined to get his
first clean sheet of the season, and then was lucky to
keep it after another long range effort left the
crossbar rattling.
With about twenty minutes to go Roundshaw looked more
than comfortable, disappointingly Putney where let down
by their No.15 6ft.2” & 20 + stone when he started to
wipe out our wingers under the pretext of getting the
ball obviously upset because they had been raping him
all game, it did look very silly when he faced up to Juan
who came just above his belly button, hey maybe he will
look back and see what he looked like. We then added to
their misery by smashing in a fourth, a great cross by
Al saw macca's overhead kick the ball only to rebound off
the post and land at Juan’s feet to smash the fourth and
final goal.
The remainder of the game saw a switch from Dave to let
his returning injured players have a kick and the smart switch
helped Roundshaw see out the rest of the game without
danger.
Final score Putney lions 0 - 4 Roundshaw reserves
Man of the match - Juan (9), a all round great
game, and proved to much for the left back good efforts
to defend as well.

Managers Comment:
very pleased about the clean sheet a poor performance by
us generally but as they say when you can grind out a
win and a 0 – 4 win at that when we aren’t playing well
that’s the sign of a great team. most improved game Adam
for the assist, composure and team management on the
pitch also a mention in despatches about Bizzy for finally starting to open those legs and
go
